Gratitude to GIYA KANCHELI: Aniko Dolidze

August 17, Gratitude to Giya Kancheli concert - on the Maestro's birthday, we invite you to a special musical evening dedicated to one of the most outstanding composers of the 20th century - Giya Kancheli.

On August 17, Aniko Dolidze, accompanied by leading Ukrainian jazz musicians, will present the program Gratitude to Giya Kancheli "Music for Theater and Cinema", dedicated to the outstanding Georgian composer.

The program Gratitude to Giya Kancheli is music written by Giya Kancheli for theater and film, which sounds in a new reading thanks to famous Ukrainian jazz musicians and arrangements by composer and pianist Rodion Ivanov. It is a musical gratitude to the Maestro for his incredible creativity and love of jazz, which he carried throughout his life.

Aniko Dolidze:

"It is very important for me that, especially now, such music should sound and comfort people, fill us with pure love, goodness and light, heal souls. This music is like a prayer..." You will hear music from the films "Children of the Sea" by N. Pipinashvili, "White Stones" by R. Charkhalashvili and B. Tsuladze, "Mimino" by G. Danelia, "Your Son, Earth" by R. Chkheidze, "Strange People" by E. Shengelai, as well as the performances "A Role for a Beginning Actress", "Khanuma" and "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" by R. Sturua.

The arrangements of all the pieces in the program were composed by the famous jazz pianist and composer Rodion Ivanov. The arrangements were inspired by the works of the Georgian conductor and composer Nikoloz Rachveli.
