In the history of every theater, there are iconic performances that future generations measure their artistic aspirations and preferences against. For the people of Frankivsk, one of such performances for many years was the play "Tevye-Tevel" based on the works of Sholem Aleichem, a play by Grigoriy Gorin.
...Anatov milkman Tevye pulls his milk cart, pondering such problems as are familiar to every ordinary person: how to bring order to a large family, how to make five daughters marry decent people, how to earn more money, on which existence depends. The hero meets different people on his way, their destinies develop differently. A meeting with Kyiv student Perchyk, whom Tevye brings to his family, ends with the departure of his daughter Godl to distant Siberia, where her student husband has been exiled. The eldest daughter Tseitl, after an unsuccessful matchmaking for the butcher Leyzer, marries the poor but kind-hearted tailor Motl to Tevye. Hava, Tevye's most beloved daughter, unites her fate with the Russian boy Fedor. And the father again turns to his only advisor - God, waiting for hope for the best. Hopes are shattered one after another, but Tevye, a great dreamer from Anativka, even after the death of his wife, holding his little granddaughter Golda in his arms, tells her about the regularity and logic of the circle of life. The idea of the desired and the unattainable runs through all the events of the play, which is resolved in the tragicomic genre, where laughter resounds through tears, where there is a place for humor and wit. And, of course, colorful music, without which life is also indispensable...
