Imitation

Theatre on Podil Kyiv, Andreevsky Descent, 20-B

"Imitation" at the Theater on Podil is a detective play about things that break quietly: trust, intimacy, a sense of home. A good option for an evening when you don't just want to "watch something," but to immerse yourself in the tension, where every conversation has a second bottom.

There are no easy answers or “right” heroes here. There is returning from war, strange money, silence between loved ones, and the feeling that the truth is somewhere nearby, but it is scary to touch it.

About the play "Imitation"

The main character returns after a long war and notices that something has changed between his wife and his friend. At first, it seems that it is a banal betrayal. But gradually the story goes much deeper - into the topic of money, compromises and the price that is sometimes paid for a “quiet life”.

This is a detective story not only about secrets, but also about people trying to hold on to their own reality, even when it is bursting at the seams.

The performance lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes in Ukrainian. The format is without long pauses and “water”: the plot keeps the attention until the finale.

Why you should add it to your plans

  • a detective story where the tension builds gradually, not through cheap “screamers”;
  • the theme of choice, money and human compromises sounds very modern;
  • the chamber atmosphere of the Theater on Podil adds a sense of closeness to the events;
  • a good option to switch from routine and go out in public without “light content in the background”;
  • The performance leaves room for conversation after the finale. And that's always a plus.

For the mood when you want a little tension, a little psychology, and an evening after which, on the way home, you catch yourself thinking: “what would I have done?”
