The musical "Insects" directed by Oksana Taranenko is based on the play "From the Life of Insects" (1923) by the Čapek brothers - a work that is striking in its prophetic relevance even today and inspires a new Ukrainian reading.
Composer Ivan Nebesny, together with poet and librettist Mykola Brovchenko, created a phantasmagoric modern musical that explores the processes of depopulation and the high price of preserving humanity.
At the center of the plot is the poet Felix, who experiences a distorted reflection of his own life in a dream: a world where people take on the appearance of cruel insects. He is faced with a difficult choice - to remain human or accept the rules of a soulless reality in which the word turns into an instrument of power and manipulation. His talent brings success, money and influence - but at the cost of losing his own essence.
The production poses an open and disturbing question: what choices is humanity making today - and will it be able to wake up from its own nightmare?
