History of the artist's development
TUCHA (Mariya Tuchka) is a Ukrainian author and performer, electronic musician and creative producer. Tucha is Maria's first and immediately solo musical project, which became a kind of victory over her own fears.
As a child, the future star studied at a music school, but never finished the course. At first, the classes were filled with fear and tears due to bullying in the group. Then came the routine that brought no joy. The most painful memories were the words of the teacher, who could publicly remark in front of an audience of seventy people that Tuchka sings badly. At the same time, a girl with powerful charisma and rich creative potential was, in a good sense, doomed to fame and a career in the music industry.
Maria tried to return to creativity by gathering a band with friends in Khmelnytskyi. The leader of the group was supposed to play the synthesizer and sing. But due to an internal barrier, she was never able to sing, and the group broke up at the first rehearsal.
TUCHKA received a real impetus to immerse herself in music again when she got acquainted with the capabilities of the Ableton software. This happened thanks to local electronic musicians. The realization that you can create tracks yourself, in your own home, without fear of making mistakes, was a liberation. Thus, from kitchen experiments the Tucha project was born - a space where Maria was finally able to be herself and search for her unique sound.
Creative path
The solo project Tucha appeared in 2018 and from the very beginning became a space of maximum creative independence for its author. Already the first works brought recognition from fans of high-quality electronic sound. Maria takes on almost the entire process - from writing music to visual design. Only sometimes does she involve close associates. Thus, the second album was mixed and mastered by the musician's friend, one of the leading Ukrainian sound engineers Mykyta Mekalin.
Over time, a small but very well-coordinated team formed around Tucha. She helps to implement bold ideas and create real electronic hits. Cameraman Anton Gudkov, gaffer Igor Isai, clothing designer Zhanna Volynets and makeup artist Alina Kravchuk participated in the creation of the video clips. While TUCHA herself acted as a director. The musician also personally did the editing, color and visual effects. Social networks, promotional materials and creative content are mainly the singer's own work.
Social activity
On September 26, 2023, the artist presented the single and video clip "Sleekerka" - a project aimed at supporting the LGBTIQ+ community. Thus, the singer continued the line of socially significant and bold statements in her work.
The artist also takes an active public position and tries to draw the world's attention to Russia's crimes with her work. One of the most famous works in this context was the song "Russia is a terrorist state". The video clip for the track uses archival footage of the Holodomor events, the theme of the "Shooted Renaissance", repressions and other criminal actions of Russia against Ukrainians. The media "SLUKH" called the video work "the main video of the war" at the time of its release.
TUCHA also does a lot to support the military. One of the manifestations of this was the release of the video clip for the hit "DekaDance". Among the key tasks was not only to convey the idea of the song, but also to raise funds for the military who took part in the filming. Thus, the singer sought to support those who helped implement her idea, and at the same time direct part of the collected money to the needs of their units.
