Theater of Ukrainian tradition "Mirror": getting to know a unique cultural institution in the capital
The "Mirror" theater in Kyiv closed its 35th season in the summer of 2023. At the same time, the creative team is not going to put activity on pause, and the poster of the new theater season is rapidly expanding with new performances. So how did it appear and where is the original theater and entertainment institution of the capital located? The Theater of Ukrainian Tradition "Dzerkalo" was founded by brothers Volodymyr and Vitaly Petranyuk. Then, in the early 1980s, the emergence of a creative collective among Kyiv youth became a manifestation of the capital's avant-garde and the response of creators thirsty for free art to the restrictions of the totalitarian regime. The theater is the only institution in Kyiv on the left bank of the Dnieper whose repertoire is exclusively Ukrainian and consists of works of various genres by Ukrainian authors, both classics and contemporary: Mykola Gogol, Ivan Karpenko-Kary, Lesya Ukrainka, Taras Shevchenko, Borys Humenyuk, Volodymyr Petranyuk and others.By age category, theater performances can be divided into:
