Band history
0 %Mercury is a Ukrainian metalcore band from Kharkiv. This is one of those Ukrainian bands that exploded onto the scene with its own character, style and recognizable charisma. The history of the musicians began in 2016 in Kharkiv, where four like-minded people gradually formed a unique sound, which later transformed into bold metalcore with a unique approach. After the start of the full-scale war, the artists were forced to move to Vinnytsia. However, it was there that they launched large-scale charitable activities - they organized tours, participated in festivals and gave concerts, turning their live shows into a way to support the Ukrainian defenders. During this time, 0 %Mercury not only raised a lot of money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also gained notable recognition in the industry: the band was nominated for The BUMA, and in 2023 won the W:O:A Metal Battle Ukraine, opening the way for themselves to the international stage.
The band's style and creative development
Their music is a cocktail of genres, emotions and creative searches. The musicians admit that they are inspired by everything that vibrates: from hardcore to anime culture. That is why 0 %Mercury jokingly call their style “kitten hardcore” or “rainbow rock”, because their concerts are filled with an explosive atmosphere that leaves fans in awe. Gradually, the band gained wide popularity thanks to their bright performances at numerous festivals and their unique manner of working on stage. In August 2023, the band made their first big international breakthrough – they took 3rd place in the metal battle at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival, which is considered the main metal event in the world. The band’s leader recalled that their stage performance was improvisational: movements and facial expressions were born from a sense of the moment, and the influence of their beloved Japanese culture only strengthened this expressive style. She admitted that she had never been a professional dancer, but stage freedom allowed them to turn this “imperfection” into the band’s signature feature.
At Wacken, the musicians managed not only to perform, but also to establish cooperation with bands from different countries, exchange experiences and tell the world about Ukrainian culture and the realities of war. After returning, they continued charity performances - both in Ukraine and abroad. Among them were many concerts for the military in cities close to the front. It is important for the band not only to raise funds, but also to give emotional support to the listeners, because music becomes a necessary relief at a time when tension is felt everywhere.
The band actively cooperates with internal musical associations and production communities, including Venona Records and BUMA.
