Becoming an artist
Oleg Roenko – Ukrainian theater and film actor, member of the Film Actors Guild of Ukraine. The future star of the big stage and television screens was born in Kyiv. He studied at a metropolitan school. After receiving secondary education, Roenko began his career at a factory. But later, after returning from military service, he took an important step towards realizing his ambitious desire to connect his life with the culture and creative industry - he entered a theater institute.
Interestingly, the big stage attracted the future star since childhood. Unlike other boys, Oleg always wanted to be a clown. He was regularly taken to the circus, where a unique atmosphere of creativity and positivity always reigned.
In 1987, Oleg Roenko received a diploma from the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts with a degree in Drama Actor. In addition, the artist took a course in the specialty "Drama Directing" at the Institute of Directing, which he graduated in 1994.
Creative path
After completing his studies at the institute, Oleg Roenko began working with the creative team of the Novosibirsk theater. The next stage that the actor conquered was the Bolshoi Drama Theater. The actor played there for six years. Since September 1996, he has been conquering the audience of the National Academic Drama Theater named after Lesya Ukrainka in Kyiv.
The artist's work in the film industry also brought him popularity and recognition. Oleg Roenko has starred in films and TV series of various genres – from melodrama to crime:

- «Thunder in a Clear Sky»;
- «Personal Case»;
- «Life After Life»;
- “The Last Role of Rita”;
- “Labyrinths of Lies” and others.
In Oleg Roenko’s modern stage repertoire are roles in performances of the Lesya Ukrainka Theater:
- “Burning in the Dark” (Father);
- “No. 13” (Manager).
During his creative career, the actor collaborated with representatives of theatrical art from other countries. The talented Ukrainian has conquered hundreds of fans of the performing arts. The production of the stage reading “Draw Me a Plane” based on the work of Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt was a bright directorial work. In the play, Oleg Roenko also played the role of Werner von Breslau. As an assistant director, the artist distinguished himself in the production of the Young Theater (the play “Cunning and Love”).
Social activity
Since 2009, Oleg Roenko has been working as an associate professor of the Department of Theater Arts at Kyiv International University and heads the acting workshop. The teacher’s professional specialization is stage combat and actor fencing. Roenko is the author of the textbook "Stage Actor's Fencing from the Experience of Fencing Master-Director Oleg Roenko", which covers theoretical and practical aspects of stage fencing. The artist teaches directing and actor's skills, conducts master classes and trainings, and also creates fencing and combat scenes for Ukrainian and foreign theaters. A deep understanding of the stage nature and the ability to accurately convey the nuances of working with cold weapons are qualities inherent in Oleg Olegovich.
Oleg Roenko is the author of a number of successful stage solutions in performances that combine plasticity, combat dynamics, and movement dramaturgy. The artist's works have repeatedly been noted by professional reviews for the expressiveness of stage action, technical accuracy, and emotional tension. Roenko makes a significant contribution not only to teaching and directing. Among the merits of Oleg Olegovich is the formation of a new generation of actors capable of working at the intersection of drama, plastic and stage action.
Among the spectacular works where Roenko realized himself as a director of fencing, plastic and stage battles are the performances "Cyrano de Bergerac”, “Vanity”, “Captain Flint’s Treasures”, “Hamlet”, “The Doll That Changed the World”. As an assistant director for staging fencing scenes, the artist also distinguished himself in the production of the Young Theater (the play “Cunning and Love”).
Awards and distinctions
For his special contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and art, Oleg Roenko was awarded the title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine”.
