Oleksandr Kachura is a Ukrainian stand-up comedian from Kharkiv, a participant in the improvisational show "Kings of Krinzh" and a comedian who started performing at open microphones in Hong Kong. If you are looking for stand-up with self-irony, urban observations and stories that make you want to say "I had the same experience" - you should pay attention to his performances.
About Oleksandr Kachura
Oleksandr Kachura was born in Kharkiv. He spent part of his childhood in Kyiv - in 2002 his family moved to the capital due to his father's work. The comedian himself recalls that at that time his "Kyiv" was mainly limited to Rusanivka, where he spent several important years of his childhood.
In 2006, the family returned to Kharkiv, but Oleksandr experienced this move with difficulty because of the friends and familiar environment that remained in the capital. Later, the comedian's life also included China. It was there that he began performing at open microphones and saw with his own eyes how “Chinese fish are killed” — a story that has long become part of his stage image.
In 2019, after returning from China, Oleksandr Kachura and his wife finally settled in Kyiv.
Kyiv, Rusanivka and stand-up
The comedian currently lives in the Dniprovskyi district of the capital. Among his favorite places, he names Rusanivka, Holosiivskyi Forest, and the route along the Dnipro from the River Station to the Dnipro metro station.
Rusanivka has a special meaning for Oleksandr because of his childhood memories. The comedian himself joked that he once even had his phone taken away from him there, but the district still remained “his” place for walks and nostalgia.
The first stand-up performance in Kyiv took place in an institution on Lvivska Square. According to Kachura, that concert was far from ideal: the audience was smoking hookahs and was too relaxed to react actively. However, the comedian self-ironically added that it could have been a joke too. Well, that's the classic start of many stand-up comedians.
Humor and a view of the city
Olexander Kachura is a participant in the improvisational show "Kings of Krinzh", where he works with a live reaction from the audience and quick humor without prepared "correct" answers.
Speaking of Kyivans, the comedian noted that real residents of the capital usually do not demonstrate their status as "native Kyivans" as an excuse for arrogance.
Kachura also repeatedly spoke about life in the city during the war, planning everyday life and the habit of constantly being attentive in a big city. According to him, Kyiv taught him to react faster to circumstances and plan his day in advance.
