Artist’s background

thekomakoma is a Ukrainian electronic musician and sound producer. The artist’s real name is Serhiy Silakov. Serhiy was born in the Ternopil region, in the village of Pidvolochysk. His passion for music manifested itself in his youth. In 2013, Serhiy became the keyboardist of the Ternopil band Bugs & Bunny and played the synthesizer in the Leo Mantis band. The search for his own creative style continued. Studying at the Faculty of Arts of the Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University helped Silakov form a solid foundation for a future career in the music industry.

Creative path

Serhiy Silakov gained recognition from a wide audience and gained real popularity in 2020. Success was brought by Serhiy's cooperation as a sound producer with the ZLIVA NA PRAVO collective. The result of the creative collaboration was the single "History". Silakov also acted as a sound engineer for the album "Plyne Chas" by the Kyiv rock band Kam'yany Gist.

In 2021, the electronic project thekomakoma debuted. It took the musician a little time to release the “Holiday Album” and “Kyivskyi Album”. The recording time did not exceed 6-7 minutes. But this did not prevent Silakov from realizing his talent. And so - in the same year thekomakoma conquered the stages of the famous festivals “Zahedfest” and “Faine Misto”. The era of sold-out concerts began. The artist’s sincerity, originality and bright natural charisma conquered fans of high-quality sound and added new listeners to the ranks of fans of the project.

thekomakoma made efforts to regularly create content on TikTok. However, the videos did not gain significant popularity. Before the start of the full-scale invasion, Serhiy published videos every day, and sometimes even two or three per day. On February 20, he shot a video clip for the song “Tomorrow”. Fans saw the work only in April. That premiere was an important step in expanding the audience. Already in July 2022, the snippet “I'm Dancing Alone” was released, gaining over 1.7 million views. Later, the tracks “Heart 2” and “Stars” also became viral millionaires.

In October 2022, Serhiy presented the song “Rodyna”. The purpose of the track’s release was to raise funds for the Repair Together fund to rebuild a house destroyed during the war in the Chernihiv region. The “Naive Album” was released in the same month. The publication “Ukrainian Pravda” noted that the record tells about the place of ordinary joys in difficult times and partially recreates the atmosphere of the musical culture of the 90s. Sound analysis became the basis for drawing parallels between the album and the work of Kurgan & Agregat, as well as The Vyo. The recording of the album took place with the participation of Just Nelson, as well as Daryna Saliy and Vasylyna Tkachuk (backing vocalists of the Kazka band).

Drawing attention to the plight of a resident of Chernihiv region in the composition “Rodina”, the artist will give a charity 3D online piano concert in March 2023. The goal is to raise funds for the restoration of a school in the village of Buzova. The event was held in collaboration with the Tember Blanche band. The host of the concert was the popular actor and presenter Yevgen Yanovich. After the live broadcast, thekomakoma presented the EP “Album under the Piano”.
