History of the band
dity inzheneriv is a Ukrainian punk rock band that officially appeared on the music scene in 2020. Although the creative ties between the group members arose much earlier, back in 2010. It was then that student Serhiy Pukhov, and now the band's bass guitarist, began playing garage rock with friends in Chernihiv. Even then, the project, which had no name, became the forerunner of the current band.
Writing songs was not only a hobby for Serhiy, but also a way of self-expression. Therefore, the thought of creating his own band never left him. After all, while working in the IT sphere, Pukhov simultaneously embodied his musical idea. Creativity acquired clear features after a chance meeting in Kyiv with the future vocalist of the band, Alexandra Kopachevskaya. So it was Serhiy Pukhov who became the driving force behind the creation of the band Dity inzheneriv.
The name of the band arose after the release of the song "Dity", which the musicians still played as a nameless band. The track was a dedication to those who, like Serhiy himself, grew up in modest but principled families where everything is earned on their own. Despite the fact that Pukhov is indeed from a family of engineers, the name of the band is more of a metaphor: a tribute to the generation that grew up in an environment of “chaotic goodness”, with faith in their own strength.
Creative path
In February 2020, dity inzheneriv began work on the mini-album “Welcome to Ukraine, Punk”. The album was released in 2021. The first recordings were made at BrightSound studio, which later ceased to exist. Later, the musicians moved to SoundPlant studio, where they created one of their most famous tracks – “Rubtsi”. The single was released on the second day of the full-scale invasion and instantly went viral on TikTok.
Since then, the band has released several more resonant compositions, including "You Wouldn't Believe" and "Earphones". The musicians have finally secured the status of stars of modern Ukrainian punk rock and gained recognition and popularity in the Ukrainian music industry.
After February 24, 2022, the composition of the group underwent changes. New members took the place of Peter and Oleksandr. Drummer and sound engineer Pavlo Safonov and guitarist Dmytro Solyanyk joined the band. With them, the band's sound was filled with new energy and power.
A short creative pause and return to the stage
In March 2022, dity inzheneriv announced a creative pause. They explained it by the fact that helping the military to solve national security issues came first. And the artists did not feel the desire to promote music in return. But already in June of the same year, the band informed fans about their return to active creativity. The first fit with the artist hatespeech was released - "Moscow". In collaboration with the bands Omana, Alice Change and the same hatespeech, they created the track "Trends". The song became a reflection on the state of the music industry during the war.
During 2023, the band began giving concerts. Live performances were often held in collaboration with hatespeech. During the performances, the performers raised funds to support the Ukrainian army. The first large-scale concert took place on July 30 on the main stage of the Faine Misto festival. Later, with the support of the Faine Events agency, the band went on a charity tour of ten cities in Ukraine. As a result, they raised 1,200,000 hryvnias for the needs of the Defense Forces.
In the summer of 2024, dity inzheneriv again performed at the Faine Misto festival in front of hundreds of fans. In the same year, the mini-album "OMG" was released (the title stands for "one million hryvnias"). The idea of the record was closely related to charity: the musicians promised to create a new release only if one million hryvnias were collected in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The campaign was announced in late autumn 2023. And when the goal was reached, the promise was kept. The title track of the album was included in the soundtrack of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
But already on February 13, 2025, the band's fans learned about a new pause in the creative activity of dity inzheneriv. One of the reasons was that the group's leader Serhiy Pukhov joined the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The band's creative style
The members of the dity inzheneriv group call themselves representatives of "true indie". After all, they create music on their own, without labels and producers, in a mode of complete creative freedom. They work exclusively when they have inspiration. Despite the fact that the band once identified itself as a punk rock collective, today the musicians avoid rigid genre frameworks. The team's style is guitar straightforwardness combined with live female vocals. This is a special energy and lack of claims to complex musical forms.
