History of the artist

DREVO (real name – Maksym Derevyanchuk) is a Ukrainian singer with a unique timbre, songwriter. Finalist of the National Selection for Eurovision-2024. He plunged headlong into the music industry about two years ago, although he had been singing since childhood. Maksym's young years were spent in the city of Varash, Rivne region. Already at that time, the guy went on stage, participating in various events. However, he did not engage in creative work professionally: he was more interested in football. Later, he bought a guitar and began to compose his own songs.

There was an obvious transition from sports to music. And over time, it became clear: the changes were for the better. However, when choosing a future profession, the young artist stopped at the specialty "Automation and computer-integrated technologies". Maxim entered the Kyiv Polytechnic University on a budget and even went to a master's degree. But he studied without enthusiasm and pleasure. He simply understood: sometimes you need to take and do things that you don't really like.

At the beginning of DREVO's career, the audience noted the special timbre of the performer's voice, calling it bardic. Maxim tried to compare him with some musicians, but the artist himself denied such theories and did not consider himself a bard. He attributed the emergence of various rumors to the lack of detailed information about himself. At the same time, Derevyanchuk admits to a certain influence of the music of other groups. After all, he himself creates mainly guitar music, so he usually listens to famous rock bands, of which there are actually a lot.

The first tracks of DREVO were lyrical, as the author notes. But modern works are already created in a different genre. This is a successful combination of modern rock and folk elements, which makes Drevo's songs authentic and unique. Maksym created the first tracks independently: starting with sound recording and ending with the filming of video clips. The accumulated experience and the desire to gain wider popularity and recognition from a larger number of fans led the artist to the National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The artist took part in the selection with the song Endless Chain, which combined rock sound and nostalgia from 8-bit games, reminiscent of the times of pixel graphics. As a result of the voting, Drevo took 9th place in the final.

It should be noted that in 2024 this was not the artist's debut at Eurovision. The first attempt took place a year earlier. Maksym prepared the track Life in Reverse, which was included in the longlist. The musician did not reach the final, but received favorable reviews from the producer of the competition Dmitry Shurov. Maksym even developed friendly relations with the star. Shurov invited the young musician to perform at his live show and even played the drums when DREVO was on stage. This was a very important event in the career of the aspiring artist. Maksym highly appreciated the support of his wise mentor.
