Biography
Katya Blyostka is a famous blogger and writer. The future Instagram star was born in the urban-type settlement of Goscha in the Rivne region. The first six years of her life were spent in Kamchatka, where her father served in the missile forces. The family lived in a closed area surrounded by forest and equipment. And a volcano was erupting nearby. Little Katya watched the light smoke from the crater, as if it were a fairy-tale spectacle.Returning with her mother to Goscha, the girl was surrounded by her family. She grew up with her younger sister Natalia, cousins, and sisters. A large role in Katya's upbringing was played by her grandparents, who instilled a love for family traditions. It was the celebration of Easter that left the warmest memories in Kateryna's memory - the smell of baking, the bustle in the house, the feeling of a holiday.
After studying at the gymnasium, Katya entered the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, choosing the specialty "International Tourism". For some time she worked in a travel agency, but life quickly took the girl with powerful charisma and leadership qualities on a different track.
The first marriage turned out to be short-lived, but it was then, in 2009, that the firstborn was born - son Artem.
Moving to America
Katerina met a new love in 2014. She married an American, Elliot Burrell, and moved with her son to San Diego, California. Here, her son Ignat was later born with Elliot. The experience of motherhood helped the woman adapt to the new environment more quickly. Later, the Burrell family was replenished with two more boys.Blogging and choosing a pseudonym
Earlier, while staying in the USA, Katerina found her true calling. The mother of many children started a blog, which unexpectedly gained immense popularity. In fact, Katya's love of writing had accompanied her since childhood. Even at school, she knew how to create works that moved teachers to tears. So the first successful post was the beginning of a new path and brought recognition to a large audience. Within a few months, fans began calling Kateryna a blogger, and she accepted this role.The pseudonym “Katya Blyostka” appeared by accident. During the live broadcast of the Oscars, Kateryna commented on the event in stories and called herself “fashion journalist Katya Blyostka.” Fans liked this ironic self-presentation, and the creative name stuck. The first two years of blogging (since November 2019) brought Katya about 200 thousand subscribers on Facebook and Instagram.
In her blog, Kateryna touches on topics that have proven to be frank and important for many women: the right to be yourself, to put your own desires and needs first, to talk about your body after childbirth, sex education, contraception, feminism and, of course, motherhood. The blogger proves that feminism and motherhood do not contradict each other, but are harmoniously combined.
Writing
Katerina's philosophy is simple: motherhood is just one of the roles of a woman, but it should not absorb her personality. A woman has the right to remain herself, no matter who she is - a mother, a wife, a professional in the scientific field or the creative industry. These ideas formed the basis of Katya Blyostka's books, which quickly became bestsellers and brought her fame as a writer:- "Mother is not a hired hand, or Why children are beautiful...". In the book, Katerina addresses the topic of real, living and sometimes chaotic motherhood. She describes it without embellishment, pathos or attempts to look like an ideal mother. The reader goes through the whole journey with the author - from the excitement after the pregnancy test to the quarrels in kindergarten. Katya sincerely writes about the first baths, the first teeth and those awkward questions that every child asks sooner or later. The writer takes the reader through all the stages of motherhood with a light, almost playful gait, emphasizing the main thing - the need to remain calm and have common sense even when the world is turned upside down;
- “That's how you need it, or Why you should choose yourself in relationships”. The book reveals another side of the writer's life. Here Kateryna already shares her own story - from teenage adventures at discos and first romantic dates to family quarrels and painful awareness of her own desires and limits. This is a frank story about love and sexuality, about attempts to build relationships with men and at the same time - about the path to self-love. The author describes growing up in a small village, the transformation from a naive girl to a mature woman. And she does it in her own way – with humor, self-irony and a barely noticeable, but very organic charm of a “sharp word”.
Interesting facts:
- As a girl, Kateryna dreamed of becoming a stewardess. Then – a veterinarian. And later she even thought about a career as an artist – she drew inspiration from her uncle Vasyl Bashi, who had the high title of People’s Artist of Ukraine;
- Kateryna and Eliot’s acquaintanceBarrella's wedding took place online. The future couple first corresponded, and then met in Kyiv.
