Becoming an artist
Olena Uzlyuk is a Ukrainian theater, film and dubbing actress, Honored Artist of Ukraine. Olena Anatoliivna is a person for whom the stage has become a space of freedom, and creativity has become a real way of life. Her path began in the world of music: the future artist graduated from a variety and circus school with a vocal direction, although at school teachers predicted a brilliant future for her in the exact sciences. They were surprised when a capable student, who easily solved problems in algebra and geometry, suddenly decided to link her fate with art. But Olena stubbornly followed her inner calling. And even now she jokes that mathematics has not disappeared - because she still helps her daughter with tests.
The childhood of the future star was spent in choirs and creative groups, where she learned to work with the voice and the audience. Those years were very eventful: sometimes her recordings were even heard in the subway - in particular, the song "The Green Sea is Playing" and other compositions that the whole country knew at that time. She dreamed of her own singing career, wrote lyrics and poems, trying to find her own style, but fate brought her to another stage. The ability to sing later became an advantage - after all, in the theater, Olena had to play many roles in musicals, where vocal training turned out to be invaluable.
In 1988, the artist completed her studies at the vocal department of the Kyiv Variety and Circus School, and later entered the Kyiv State Institute of Theater Arts named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary. Studying at the acting faculty, where her mentor was Boris Stavytsky, laid the foundation for professionalism, discipline and faith in her own strength.
Creative path
Since 1992, Olena has been part of the Young Theater - a collective that has been her creative home for many years. She has developed a wide range of genre roles, participated in dozens of productions and worked in film at the same time. Although she likes the set, the actress is convinced that the theater is a place where an actor gets a real experience, where he feels the live reaction of the audience and where an emotion is born that no editing can replace.
Despite her high workload in the theater, Olena maintains a long-term cooperation with the dubbing industry. She has been working in it for over twenty-three years and has voiced many high-profile projects: among them “House of Cards” and “Fargo”. She is invited every time new seasons of these series are released. The actress treats every job with respect – whether it is well paid or not. She is convinced that honestly done work will always return a hundredfold, and therefore she willingly takes on even small orders. It was this position, sincerity and charisma that made her one of the recognizable voices of Ukrainian dubbing and brought her recognition among colleagues and fans.
Despite the lack of a singing career, music continues to be an important part of her life: it helps her feel the rhythm of the stage, keep her voice in shape and play roles that require a strong vocal image. It is the combination of acting skills and musical background that made Olena an artist who knows how to control the audience's attention and create full-fledged stage characters.
