Anton Sokolov is a Ukrainian stand-up comedian from Dnipro. Back in 2019, he called himself a novice stand-up comedian and “a person who has tired his friends with his jokes and is now looking for new ones.” Today, he is known as an indie comedian and the “gray marginal” of stand-up.
Anton has long felt confident on stage, regularly appearing before audiences in Lviv and Kyiv clubs. The artist’s performances can be called a kind of “live” concerts in the vastness of the stand-up industry, where each new joke composition sounds like a fresh track at a music festival. The comedian is tirelessly working to expand his repertoire, adding new formats that are quickly becoming hits among fans of the genre.
A special place in the stand-up artist's work is occupied by his participation in the Lviv collective StandUp Battle Club - a platform that for many comedy performers has become something like a concert venue and a studio at the same time. It is this club with its YouTube channel, where stand-up numbers, shows and podcasts appear, that has turned into an important center of culture and presented the public with dozens of popular artists. An equally important project was "Cultural Defense" - a series of online streams, where a collective of comedians with powerful charisma gathers to donate, combining humor and social activism.
Another creative experiment with Sokolov's participation is the literary and comedy "Reader's Diary". In this show, the comedian appears not only as a performer, but also as a producer, as he creates content designed for a long life in the cultural space.
