CHEEV (real name – Vlad Chizhikov) is an author and performer of his own songs, born in Belarus, where he first appeared on stage and received recognition. Since 2021, the singer has lived in Kyiv, and calls Ukraine his place of strength even today, when a full-scale war is underway in the country. Today, the artist speaks fluent Ukrainian. He writes all his songs exclusively in the nightingale. But the path to success was not swift and easy.

Vlad dreamed of singing since childhood. At the age of six, the boy recorded vocals on an old cassette recorder. Then he played the melody on the keyboards. Becoming a student of the philological faculty of an educational institution in Minsk at the age of 17, the guy began to combine his studies with performances on the stages of restaurants and bars. This is how he managed to overcome stage fright and natural shyness. The desire to develop and conquer a wider audience led the future star to the “Talent Academy” project. Participation in the show was victorious, Vlad had his first song, which was put into rotation on the radio.

With the victory in the “Talent Academy”, a ghostly hope for development loomed on the horizon: Vlad was assigned to a music producer. But the cooperation turned out to be short-lived and ineffective. The initial step towards recognition took place, but to keep the attention of fans, new material was needed. And the lack of funds and the absence of musicians did not contribute to this in any way. So Vladislav became the leader of a cover band, with which he tried to join the music industry. Original covers of tracks by Monatik, The Hardkiss, Tayanna, MamaRika were released.

Creative path

Together with the cover band, Vlad Chizhikov made his debut as a participant in the National Selection for Eurovision 2016 from Belarus. The musicians made it to the top 10 in the final and expanded their popularity. Meanwhile, they continued to create their own versions of songs based on hits by Maroon 5, Okean Elzy and others. Gradually, Vlad came to independent creativity and continued to create covers. Then he began to write his own songs, including in Ukrainian. The positive feedback from listeners became an impetus for the artist to continue his journey. Music became the meaning of life.

In an effort to show himself and win the audience's favor, Vladislav participated in various talent shows. Among them are the Ukrainian "X-Factor-2016" and "Voice of the Country-2019". However, appearances on the show's stages did not bring the performer a significant breakthrough. The singer considers the release of the first Ukrainian composition "Oberigati" to be the real start of his solo career. The track "Garno tak" was released, which immediately hit all possible charts of streaming platforms and hit parades in Ukraine and Europe. And the video clip for the song in 2022 collected over 8 million views, hitting YouTube trends and conquering the first line of the Apple Music Ukraine top 100 chart.

Other songs began to appear, which were later collected in the debut album Drama. In 2021, CHEEV moved to Ukraine, where he released his first album. The artist's soulful singing style has endeared him to thousands of Ukrainians. Thanks to his lyrical repertoire, Vlad has been called one of the main romantics in the world of Ukrainian music. However, the author admits that in everyday life he is a little different. And CHEEV is an opportunity to say what is difficult to relay in ordinary circumstances.
