Maksym Ryagin has felt a desire for creativity since childhood. Although at that time he did not yet realize that acting would become a profession. It all started with evenings at his grandmother's house: instead of the usual watching of TV series, the guy memorized the lines of the characters. And later he independently recreated what he saw. Maxim invented improvised performances, in which he simultaneously played the roles of all the characters. It was then, according to the actor, that the desire to act was born in him. He had a premonition that the stage would become a part of his life.
The future star of theater and cinema thought about an acting career only in the ninth grade. It was then that he decided: he wanted to devote himself to art. After graduating from school, he entered the Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky. He studied on the course of Honored Artist of Ukraine Anatoly Lobanov.
Maxim does not hide: the chosen track is not easy, but it is the difficulties and challenges that fill life with meaning. For the actor, every role, every scene is a step towards the realization of a dream that was once born in his grandmother's living room.
After completing his studies, Maksym Ryagin joined the creative team of the Kharkiv Academic Taras Shevchenko Theater. It was there that he made his debut on the professional stage. Later, Ryagin decided to continue his acting career in the capital and moved to Kyiv. He currently works at the Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper. The actor actively collaborates with directors and the acting group. He takes part in theatrical productions of various genres, embodying diverse roles on stage. Theater fans can see the actor in the performances:
Maxim Ryagin admits that as an actor he is especially interested in immersing himself in adult theatrical productions. There is a process of deep study of the role, the search for semantic accents and internal motivations of the character. Scenes are analyzed, the composition of the performance is built. All this gives an opportunity to grow professionally. It is such tasks that open up new horizons, teach both during rehearsals and in the live game itself on stage.
At the same time, Maksym also considers participation in children's performances to be a valuable experience. According to the actor, playing for the youngest audience requires special sincerity. After all, children subtly sense falsehood and instantly react to insincerity. Their emotional openness requires constant concentration, honesty and openness.
Despite the differences between the formats, Maksym emphasizes that each of them has its own unique energy. Performances for an adult audience provide intellectual and emotional immersion. While children's performances are a vivid energy exchange that cannot be compared to anything else. The actor considers such contact with the audience not just important, but special - for both the viewer and the performer of the role.
TelevisionMaxim Ryagin's acting debut took place in 2025. The actor with bright charisma played the role of a firefighter-rescuer named Phil in the TV series "Love and Flame". Maxim's character is a young man who has just joined the ranks of the State Emergency Service and from the first days enthusiastically masters a new profession for himself. Ryagin's hero is distinguished by sincerity, determination and willingness to help others. The image of Phil Malinovsky arouses sympathy among both colleagues on the screen and fans of Ukrainian cinema.
Maxim Ryagin today enjoys wide popularity and recognition. At the same time, he does not strive for loud fame and deliberately avoids publicity. In everyday life, the actor prefers to remain in the shadows, without unnecessary attention. According to him, everything that is most emotional and vivid happens on stage or in front of the camera, where one can allow oneself to transform and go beyond the usual. But after performances or filming, Maksym simply puts on a hood, leaves through the back door and dissolves into the city rhythm, returning to his personal space.
The actor is not very active on social networks: his Instagram page mainly consists of theatrical footage, photos and fragments of his creative life. Ryagin leaves everyday moments out of the public. Keeping his blog in Ukrainian is a conscious choice, which he finally switched to after the start of a full-scale war. As the actor notes, it was not difficult to adapt to the Ukrainian-speaking environment. After all, in the theater, among friends and family, Ukrainian has long become organic.
Maksym is convinced that culture is also a weapon. At a time when the enemy is trying to destroy Ukrainian identity, every actor, musician or writer must remain in the ranks. Creativity (music, cinema, theater), according to the artist, preserves what missiles cannot destroy - the soul of the people. And that is why it is so important today to act, write, and film. So that the world can see: Ukraine is strong not only in resistance, but also in beauty, depth and spiritual invincibility.
