The history of the artist's development
Khrystyna Soloviy is a Ukrainian singer, author and performer of her own songs. The star of the modern stage is Lemko by origin. Khrystyna was born in Drohobych, in the Lviv region, into a family of choir conductors. Khrystyna's parents met while studying at the Lviv Conservatory: her mother later became a teacher of the choir studio. Her father worked for some time in the culture department of the Drohobych city council. And her grandmother led a bandura ensemble.
Folk culture and creativity were not just a hobby, but an integral part of the family's life. Since childhood, the girl felt that music is a universal way of perceiving the world, similar to sight or touch. Therefore, the future singer was surprised to learn that not all people have a musical ear or a voice. And that for some, a song does not have much meaning. In Khrystyna's family, everything was the opposite. Everyone sang, conversations about music did not subside. And the live sound of instrumental compositions filled the house almost every day.
In 2011, Khrystyna completed her studies at a music school in the piano class. Having moved with her family to Lviv, she sang in the Lemkovyna choir for another three years. Creativity deepened the singer's connection with the musical heritage of her native land. After all, even in childhood, her grandmother sang folk Galician songs to Khrystyna and her brother Yevhen. The children also loved listening to Ukrainian legends and fairy tales, songs and poems.
Together with the Lemkovyna group, Khrystyna Soloviy began attending the Ukrainian festival “Lemkivska Vatra”. It was there that the artist realized that Lemkivshchyna is already history. However, there are tradition bearers in whose consciousness and memory the Lemko culture still exists. Parents never tried to influence the professional choice of their children. Therefore, when it came time to choose a higher educational institution, Khrystyna’s brother preferred Lviv Polytechnic. And the future star of the music industry studied philology at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Creative path
2013 was a fateful year on the path to recognition and popularity for Khrystyna Soloviy. The artist made her singing debut on the stage of the television vocal competition “Voice of the Country”. The singer performed the Lemko song "Gore dolom hodzhu". Having won over the judges of the project, Soloviy got into the team of the star of Ukrainian music and producer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. The 20-year-old performer immediately outlined her own civic position. Khrystyna declared that she would never sing Russian pop.
Khrystyna reached the semi-finals of the competition. The experience of participating in "Golos Kraini" completely changed her life. The girl realized that she should pursue music. After all, the support of a large audience gave rise to a sense of responsibility and a desire to develop in the genre. The natural charisma, sincerity and talent of the contestant also influenced such famous artists as Nina Matvienko and the leader of the VV group Oleg Skrypka. Receiving positive feedback from the stars was a great incentive for the young singer.
After participating in the "Voice of the Country" in collaboration with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Khrystyna Soloviy released several video clips for her own songs. The artist chose the direction of classical music and the ethno style for herself. In September 2015, during the "GogolFest" festival, the presentation of her debut album "Living Water" took place.
