History of the artist's development
Maryna Krut is a Ukrainian singer, bandura player, poet from Khmelnytskyi. The girl took up the bandura on her own at the age of eight. And this decision was the beginning of her creative path. At first, Marina was sure that music and creativity had never been part of her family history. But later she learned: her relatives on her father's side sang and had excellent hearing. In the fourth grade, Marina even wanted to drop out of school. But the teacher convinced her to stay. Such crises recurred approximately once every four years.
Her parents always stayed away – they did not forbid or interfere. For Marina, this was the most valuable form of support. True acceptance from her family came when the girl began to earn money with her own creativity. Her bright debut took place during her first year at the Khmelnytskyi Zaremba Music College. The musician was invited to perform at birthday parties. For several performed works, Marina received her first fee – 800 hryvnias. At that time, this was almost 100 dollars. Such an achievement pleasantly surprised her parents, who finally understood: their daughter’s future was in the music industry.
Among other notable achievements of young Marina Krut are diplomas from all-Ukrainian and international competitions. The girl won awards while studying at the school. After graduating from the institution, Marina went to China - she wanted to earn money to develop her own creativity.
Creative path
Marbna Krut gathered her first band at the age of 15. The band rehearsed in a garage. Then there was another group where young people played metal. But this group didn't last long either.
At the beginning of her professional career, Marina often doubted herself. The musician believed that she wouldn't be able to keep the audience's attention on her own. And therefore, for a long time, she only dared to collaborate with other stage stars, groups, and orchestras. Even later, during the concerts of the tour in support of the album, the singer wasn't sure whether she would be able to perform alone. But when she appeared before her fans with only a bandura, she realized that as an independent artist she was interesting and needed by people.
An important role on Marina KRUTЬ's path to recognition and popularity was played by sound producer Mykhailo Klymenko (founder of the ADAM project). Klymenko's role in the development of the artist is truly significant. After all, he helped form her own style and launch the KRUTЬ project. In collaboration with her mentor, the composer wrote music for three films.
In 2017, KRUTЬ first announced herself to a large audience by taking part in the eighth season of the talent show "X-Factor". Her insightful performance of the song Hallelujah impressed the judges and brought Marina four confident "yeses". However, the owner of bright charisma did not get to the live broadcasts then. A year later, KRUTЬ presented her debut album Arche. And in 2019, the mini-album Albino was released. Critics and fans noted the album as one of the best albums of the year. In 2020, in the final of the national selection for Eurovision, Marina Krut presented the composition "99". The contestant took an honorable third place.
Style and creative development
Today, Marina KRUT writes songs for her own project and defines her style as indie soul with the sound of the bandura. The experienced artist now knows how to "package" non-format and not "get lost" in the conditions of competition in the industry and in the pursuit of the attention of fans. The star admits that she gives most of her live shows abroad, introducing the audience to Ukrainian culture. However, she sees that her native audience is already actively interested in the bandura player's work. Among the most striking performances of Marina KRUTЬ recently is her appearance on the air of the American radio KEXP in Seattle with the track "My Song" in the spring of 2025.
