Band history
sexnesc is a Ukrainian alt-rock band from the city of Chernihiv, founded by 17-year-old vocalist Kyrylo Ozerov. The ideological inspirer, songwriter and main performer of the band was Kyrylo Ozerov – a singer, composer and frontman with powerful charisma. Kirill not only creates lyrics and melodies, but also sets the musical direction for the entire team. The first line-up of the group consisted of Arsen (solo guitar), Kirill (vocals) and Maksym (drums). It was they who took their first steps in music, rehearsing in the school auditorium under the guidance of teacher Mykyta Dmytrovych.
It was the teacher who helped the young artists understand that music is not just sound, but interaction, rhythm and team energy. Later, the teacher took the guys to competitions and rehearsal bases, introducing them to the concert stage. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the group, like most Ukrainian groups, went through changes. In 2022, the drummer went abroad, and Kirill was forced to assemble a new line-up.
The updated sexnesc team included musicians from Chernihiv: Bohdan (drums), Vladlen (bass) and Ivan (guitar). With them, the band found a new sound and continued their creative activity without losing their own sound. As for the name, it appeared spontaneously: the guys simply went through the options until “sexnesc” sounded somehow special and recognizable.
Creative path
A real breakthrough for the band was their participation in the National Selection for Eurovision-2023, where sexnesc entered the longlist. This stage became an important milestone in the band’s career and significantly expanded their listening audience. As Kyrylo says, the idea to submit an application arose by chance – the initiator was his girlfriend. And manager Sonya did it behind the musicians’ backs, “as a joke”. But this step brought real recognition and new fans.
The band’s discography includes several notable releases. The mini-album “Flawless” with the track “Pov’n” became a milestone in their work. The video clip for this composition, shot by Kostyantyn Prymachenko, conveyed the depth of the experiences caused by the floods in the Chernihiv region and the emotions from the first days of the war.
In February 2025, the artists presented the single "Horror" with an emotional video. According to Kirill, the song conveys "the atmosphere of deep emotional attachment" and the search for warmth in a world full of anxiety. The recording was made at home, which gave the composition intimacy and sincerity.
The band's creative output also includes the release "Birds Don't Sing, They Cry in Pain" - a deep record full of expression, internal struggle and reflections on human feelings.
The style and development of the band
sexnesc works in the genre of new metal with elements of alternative - this is emotional, deep music that conveys the reality of modern Ukraine. Their style is distinguished by powerful riffs, honest lyrics and sincere emotional tension. The band's songs are born either at home or during live jams.
Kyrylo draws inspiration from books, movies and life. The performer was influenced by Valentin Pikul's novels - "Three Centuries of Okini-san" and "Boys with Bows", as well as Patrick Süskind's "Perfume". Of the films, "Island of the Damned", "Inception" and "Prestige" made a special impression. All this forms the image of Ozerov as an artist who thinks deeply and emotionally.
In May 2025, the second album "The Force of Friction" was released, in which the band combined a recognizable style with new electronic elements. The album became a symbol of the band's maturity - sexnesc went beyond the usual alternative, creating music that combines the energy of rock, the depth of emotions and a modern pop sound. This is a new page in the band's work, which promises even more experiments, concerts and sincere emotions on stage.

- First, the musicians rented a house, which became a place of inspiration for them. There they set up their own rehearsal base, where the first ideas and riffs were born. But after the blockade of Chernihiv, the band was forced to look for a new location to work;
- Some fans compare the band's sound to Deftones. However, the band's leader Kyrylo emphasizes: if you listen more carefully, you can hear something more in the songs - their own style and recognizable energy, which distinguishes sexnesc from many "copy-paste" bands that only imitate famous names;
- The formation of the band's creative style was significantly influenced by Slipknot, Nirvana, System of a Down, Pete and the Pirates and many other bands whose experiments with genresand sound inspired musicians to create their own powerful and emotional sound and gain real popularity and recognition.
