The band's lineup
- Denys Dudko is the bass guitarist of the Okean Elzy band;
- Olexandr Lyulyakin is the drummer of the Boombox band;
- Pavlo Litvinenko is the keyboardist and music producer of Boombox.
All three musicians have known each other for a long time and have repeatedly crossed paths in other creative projects. In particular, Denis Dudko, Pavlo Litvinenko and Oleksandr Lyulyakin previously played together in the supergroup Maru with vocalist Oleha Lukachova.
History of creation
Sigmund Friends was born not as another side project of famous musicians, but as a space for creative freedom and musical experiments. The main point of unification of the participants was precisely the love of jazz and improvisational music.
At the same time, the sound of Sigmund Friends is significantly different from both the style of "Ocean Elsa" and "Boombox", as well as from the previous joint works of the musicians. At the heart of the new project is the atmosphere of live musical dialogue, freedom of form and a combination of different genre elements.
The band members themselves note that Sigmund Friends is not a classic jazz trio. Their music combines a jazz basis with elements of funk, soul, rock and cinematic sound. The individual style of each musician and many years of stage experience play an important role in the project.
First concerts and development
At the beginning of their existence, Sigmund Friends gave only a few concerts, but even that was enough to attract the attention of listeners and the music community. The first performance took place at the Kyiv bar "Alkhimik", and later the band played two more concerts at 32 Jazz Club.
After the chamber performances, the musicians announced a larger concert on the Origin Stage, which became an important stage in the development of the project and confirmed the audience's interest in the new format.
A feature of Sigmund Friends concerts is live improvisation and interaction between musicians right on stage. There is no feeling of a completely "rehearsed program" here: compositions can change depending on the mood, atmosphere and musical moment.
Creative style
Sigmund Friends' music is a mixture of jazz, fusion, funk and modern improvisational scene. The project is created for listeners who appreciate live sound, experiments and freedom in music.
The band members do not try to copy their own successful formats from the main bands. On the contrary, Sigmund Friends became an opportunity to go beyond the usual sound and create a separate creative space without genre restrictions.
The band's debut release was the track In The Trenches, which was included in the album Path of Glory. The musicians dedicated the composition to people who often remain "behind the scenes", but it is on them that everything depends. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
